AC Electricity, if it weren’t for Tesla, Thomas Eddisons DC electricity would have been used for mains electricity which isn’t practical for supplying over long distances. AC can easily be ’stepped up’ and back down again, negating the need for booster stations every few miles which would required on a DC system.

have you heard of car batteries that lasts for many many years?, motor cars that with a fuel gallon or so can ride for 1000 kilometers?, mechanical radios –no batteries needed at all !!! —?

all is about money…..

Sorry if you think I’m being pedantic, but neither Tesla nor Edison ‘invented’ electricity. Electricity has always been around.

I’m sure neither of them would have claimed to have ‘discovered’ electricity, there was plenty of knowledge of the topic long before the 19th century.

What Tesla and Edison did was to contribute massively to the commercial exploitation of electricity for the benefit of all.

He did not discover unlimited free energy. The electricity still had to be generated and that costs money for coal or to build dams. He proposed to distribute electricity by a means resembling radio. Even if it worked as a practical matter, which is extremely doubtful, those generating the electricity would want to be paid so they could pay for the coal so the miners or dam builders could be paid. If you could receive free energy, why would you pay for it?

You can look at Tesla’s patents on the US Patent Office site or on Google Patent. They are NOT secret and have not been for 75 or more years. The reason that they have not been used is either that they cannot be paid for or they don’t work, or maybe both.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Because he kept alot of that info secret so that the other scientists wouldn’t steal his ideas. He, not Edison, actually invented electricity and he was probably afraid of getting another idea ripped off.

Besides, the big electricity companies don’t want you to know that inforamtion because they’d be out of business. someone probably has already discovered the answer, but has been paid to be quiet or something of the sort.

The world seems to feed on greed my dear.

If i was a scientist, i’d give it to you and break the rules. Free energy for all!!!

I’ve read that many of his discoveries/inventions are classified still. He was also a foreigner and made better and more useful stuff than edison. Can’t be making some European into a hero above an American, can we?
